What we never send to any AI service: your exact checking, savings, cash, emergency fund, brokerage, severance, PTO, or other account-level balances; ZIP code; email address; bill names or dates; card names; individual credit-card balances, APRs, limits, or card-by-card minimum payments; employer names; account numbers; or any other identifying numbers.
When an AI-generated explanation is requested, detailed money fields are aggregated first. For example, itemized expenses are folded into essential expenses, flexible expenses, and debt minimum totals. Account-level balances are folded into one available-funds total. Scenario details are limited to the scenario label, modeled runway months, and whether the scenario is longer, shorter, or about the same as the current estimate.
The AI explanation uses only a narrow set of aggregate results already shown on the results page: available funds after reserved bills, monthly income, current monthly burn, debt minimums, Health Score, and scenario runway months. Health coverage status, COBRA or Marketplace cost details, state, and dates are not included in the current AI explanation payload.
These explanation requests are not tied to an account, because this site does not have accounts, and they are not used here to identify you. If the AI service is unavailable, takes too long, or writes a number that does not match the verified calculator data, the page falls back to the calculator-generated explanation based on the same verified numbers.
